Here's my latest commission. It's a pretty high end job so I'll go through the steps we took to complete this work. Our client expressed his desire for lots of mana energy similar to cards like Spell Snare and Necropotence.
As you can see the card is heavily played, and the goal was to cover up the wear with mana energy. Also, it was important to not extend the borders, as to preserve the authentic black borders of this beta card.
So, before applying the paint brush, we did a Photoshop mock-up to ensure the client would be happy. As you can see, the placement of the mana energy at the edges was done to coincide with the worn areas of the original card.
And once the approval was given, here is the final result!
